Sometimes We Have To Bring Back Something Old To Create Something New
Have you ever had this burning desire to re-do something or bring something back into your life that once brought you complete wholeness? Have you ever thought back to that one thing and let it go but then it just kept resurfacing. All the signs were there. You’d get little notes of magic from the universe that pushed you in that direction. One night about four weeks ago I had a dream. The dream was so real that I thought I was back in my freshman year of college. It was dream after dream that night. It was like a never-ending dream. My dream was everything I needed. I woke up that morning and my yoga mat literally fell to my feet.
Back in my freshman year of college I had to choose a sport. I am sure you can imagine what I was thinking. I was not into sports in high school and they were making me do a sport in college. I wasn’t happy to say the least. I found out I was able to choose yoga instead. It was something I always wanted to get into but never did. I was finding myself back then. Honestly, that hasn’t changed for me. I am always “finding myself”. I am always on some kind of self-journey and I have come to realize that that will never change. I have accepted it and I am welcoming everything that comes my way. I will never ever forget what I gained that semester. It carried through within me for a lifetime!
Two weeks ago I signed up for yoga. At first it was the cost that kept me away. Then I realized that I can very easily join the studio and give up a couple things during the month to make up for it. Easy-peasy. I happily joined and I absolutely love it. I have connected back into practice on a different level. I’m older, wiser and my goals are a bit different now. The truth is I wasn’t feeling right within the last few months. I felt as if I was having circulation issues and my body was completely out of balance. My dream had led me back on to my mat. We need to stay present and aware. Once we learn how to do this we rarely need anything outside of us to tell us what we need and what we need to do.
Yesterday’s class was based on the practice of Baron Baptiste. His knowledge and practice is widely known in the yoga community and his teachings are taught world-wide. He believes that yoga brings us to our “Journey Into Power”. That is exactly what yoga is all about. I was never into the traditional idea of being competitive in traditional sports on teams. I sometimes have a hard time going to my kids games and not wanting to see both teams win. I am always the one rooting for them all. My kids could honestly care less if they win or lose, as long as they had fun. In yoga we show up for ourselves. The only recognition we receive is that of ourselves. With each practice we move deeper into our poses and with each breath we create balance within ourselves. Our deep breaths allow us to understand what we need to let go as we exhale even deeper.
I brought something back into my life that was once a very important practice to me many years ago. I have continued after my freshman year of college. Yoga has always been something I kept doing, sometimes not as consistent as I’d like. Joining the studio will help me to remain consistent with my practice. When we surround ourselves with others who have the same goals in mind we tend to re-create ourselves. We must remain consistent in order to grow. My reasoning and my desire is greater this time and I will be forever thankful for my freshman year of college.
Everything leads us to a greater path than we know. All roads lead us to the path that we are on now. All of our mistakes and failures bring us to that path. Mine is forever changing and I must create balance within myself.
Until next time…
Love & Light, Always!

I need to get back to my practice too. Great reminder of how important yoga is.

I hope you do! It wasn’t too long ago you have inspired me to get back into practice. I am glad I am doing that for you. Now hit the mat! 😉
