A Small Town Girl (Part 27)
There was something missing in my life. It was that country home living kind of feeling. I missed so many things about my community living back home. I decided to bring a part of it here at the beach. I figured it would liven things up a bit on a different level and bring people closer. The first thing I did was go and buy some things to get a community garden going. I asked around to see if anyone was interested and to my surprise everyone was interested! I was very happy about that. Everyone went out and bought stuff, many donated and most wanted to help out by volunteering their time. All in all, everyone was doing their part and it was a beautiful thing to see. It was everything I had hoped for. Gathering during this time meant that our entire community would be together, helping out to start something completely new. My hope is that it will bring change into people’s lives that is very much needed. The world is changing around us so much. It’s time to come together and break free of what most of us know. All the traditional norms and misconceptions of what life should look like needs to go. I figured, what better way than to get a community garden going.
Our first community meeting was happening this weekend and there was so much that needed to be done still. The staff at the book cafe’ stepped in to help. They offered to have our gathering there and it was also a good place to talk about my new upcoming books. In no way was this a sales tactic. Everyone knew that was not what I was all about. They were all genuinely happy about my new books coming out, especially since they were all hooked on the first two. I went along with a series starting with the first book. Things were just moving along. I couldn’t be more grateful for all the support I was getting from the community. My books were not only flying through the library shelves but they have also become an Amazon’s best seller.
People were coming in from all over town. After a while I was wondering if we had enough refreshments and if we were over occupied in our space. I decided to think quick and open up the back for people to hang out in just in case we received a visitor from the town inspector. You never know when they might show up. I would feel terrible if they decided to come through now. After all it is a very small town and everyone knew everyone. Word got around pretty quickly about our community gathering and I was shocked at how many others wanted to be involved. It takes one person to spark an interest. I couldn’t be more happy with everything happening around me.
The meeting was over. What a day! It was beautiful and very exhausting. My throat was dry from talking so much. I decided to return home, run a nice hot bath and pour a cup of tea. I needed to recoup and gain my energy back. I was definitely feeling a bit drained. It was still early enough into the night where I was in full on self care mode and had a lot of time to still concentrate on it for the rest of the evening. My bath was running, the tea kettle was whistling and the aroma from the candles were filling the room. A perfect evening.
There was a ring notification on my phone. I wasn’t expecting any company. I looked out the window and saw a huge arrangement of white roses. I stepped outside to bring them in. There was a note attached.
My love…
I have spend many days and nights thinking of you and our night together. I want to see where things can lead us to. We never got a fair chance. Give it some thought…
XOXOXO
There was a single rose in the middle of 11 other white ones surrounding it. Carefully put together and thought of, which left me confused and torn. I am that red rose in the middle surrounded by new beginnings and many unknowns. Focusing on what matters most and dancing through all of the distractions, I lay here in my thoughts and carry on to see what tomorrow will bring.
Until next time…
With, Love & Light, Always!
