A Beautiful Life Is What We Make Of It

During my freshman year of college I had to choose an athletic sport as an elective. I thought this was very strange, however it was a requirement and I went with it. I was not into sports at all and I was dreading it. I still remember this day like it was yesterday.

I had an option to take yoga instead. I always loved yoga! I took a few classes here and there during high school as a senior at Lucille Roberts gym, however that was it. I would also practice at home. Instead of fulfilling the athletic sport team elective in college I was able to take yoga. I grew to love it. I loved it so much that I continued on with the practice for life. Although I didn’t remain as consistent as I would like throughout the years, it’s still a major part of my life now. I have decided to welcome this beautiful practice into my life again on a consistent basis. It’s something I am being called to do at the moment.

“The source from which the world and the mind rise and into which they set is termed Reality, which does not rise nor does it subside. “

~Ramana Maharishi

My inner voice shows up quite often. I have learned to trust her over the years, more so as I’ve become wiser each year I take a trip around the sun. When I don’t listen to my own voice my angels send me signs. My yard is always filled with wild life. Today as the sun was shining bright the same crow that has been coming every morning came to me today with a message. Last night during dream state I had a visitor come through with some very profound messages for me. I was in need of guidance yesterday. About two weeks after he crossed over we had a nest of bluejays in our yard. We watched them thrive and they soon became a connection to him. I received my validation this morning that he is guiding through what I am struggling with at the moment. A bluejay came and sang lovely tunes nearby to catch my attention. Again, it’s our inner voice. It’s our beliefs and spiritual connections that bring us to a place of love and light.

I can give you plenty of examples as to when I listened to someone other than my inner voice. Things didn’t turn out as they should have. The experiences were not terrible, they just were not mine to experience. They never made an impact in my life. The choices we make should always do that for us. It is learning how to come within. It is learning how to trust no one but ourselves.

When I am in my two favorite poses and going back and forth from one to the other my mind is calm. Gardening does the same for me. I guess you can call it my “Zen”.

What brings you to your place of “Zen”?

Until next time…

It is officially “DayLight Savings” here in New York. It happens to be my most favorite time of year. The days are longer, the sun is at it’s brightest and you can feel the winter blues rolling right off your shoulders! I was able to get out today on my lunch break. I took a […]

A New Beginning Requires Confidence And Faith

New Beginnings start with an incredible amount of confidence and an enormous amount of faith. When the opportunity arises to step out of our comfort zone fear sometimes takes over and it’s almost as if we try to talk ourselves out of going for whatever strikes. Opportunities may sometimes be a once in a lifetime […]

Living The Dream

Ever say hello to someone and then proceed with, “How are you”? “Living the dream”, they say! Okay, so seriously….What in the actual fuck does that mean? I smile and wonder what their dreams actually are. The phrase is always said in a sarcastic manner. Are you stuck in a job you do not want […]

My zen, being outdoors, dirty hands that tend the garden, watching nature and the best is watching the grandkids grow just like a garden.
