A Small Town Girl (Part 4)
The weather was perfect. The sun was giving off an energy that day that she really couldn’t explain. It was more a feeling. The coyote came by through the yard as she was sitting out back sipping her coffee while everyone was still asleep. “Should I name him”, a thought had passed on through her mind in that moment. She wondered if giving him a name would be the right thing to do. I couldn’t think of anything, I’m sure something would come to her at some point. When it does it will be perfect.
Everyone was starting to wake up one by one. The littlest of the crew came running to sit on my lap. He ran so fast and did his little hop, skip and a jump my coffee nearly fell. “Good morning, my little bug”, I whispered in his ear. His hugs were profound. He was always very close to my heart when he sat on my lap. Our energies always intertwined as one. “What should we name him”, I asked. He looked at me already knowing exactly what I was referring to and said, “Vishnu”. That’s an interesting name! He then explained to me it was very spiritual and it was the name of one his friends in school back home. I agreed with a smile and said, “Vishnu, it is”!
It was our first Saturday morning here and I wanted to make it a glorious day. Saturday mornings always called for fresh eggs, bacon and muffins. They always looked forward to it and I definitely wanted to keep our traditions going. Still, it was just so weird not hearing his voice calling from the living room. I knew in time that pain would go away, or maybe not. Does the pain ever really go away? I don’t think so. I think it just becomes a new way of life that we must endure. We find little treasures to hold close to our hearts and all the memories that keep us going. They keep us alive and free of that pain for short moments. In time, those short moments become a lifetime of pain turned into the deepest love we never knew we had.
Everyone was now officially up and they immediately went outside to bask in the glorious sun. The rays were even stronger than earlier. I looked out back as I am taking things out of the oven and I noticed Vishnu come by again. He’s never done this before. The kids are usually in the front. I figured all the laughter and running around would scare him away. This time he stayed even longer. He noticed me standing there as everyone just froze in delight. He was staring at me wondering what I was going to do as their protective Momma. I think we both have the understanding now that we know why he is here and welcomed.
After breakfast we decided to run into town. I needed a few things for the house. Being that our crops were not fully ready to be eaten yet I also needed to grab some fresh veggies from the local farmer. I was also inquiring about chickens. The kids were so excited about getting them. I figured it would be a great addition to our homestead. I knew they would all love to help out too. Taking care of them and enjoying fresh eggs everyday.
We pulled up to the long graveled driveway and we had a visitor standing by our door. He patiently waited as we gathered everything from the truck and even offered to grab some things from my hand. “Thank you, sir”, I replied. He did just that and without any hesitation he went on to tell me he was here to build our chicken coup. The kids and I were gleaming with joy! One of the clerks in town already had put the call out that we wanted chickens. It turned out that the fella who build the coups was our neighbor down the road. He and his wife are both so lovely. We have traded items with them once before.
As we were walking out back he said, “Wow, you have a nice green thumb on yah, don’t you”! I explained to him growing up that my Dad was the best gardener and I learned everything I know from him. “Of course, Google wasn’t so bad neither”, I said with a smile and we both laughed. One of the boys came running out to say hello as he nuzzled himself deep into my hip while hugging my leg. He asked if he was here to build the chicken coup and already had plans on what he was naming them.
Until next time…
Love & Light, Always!
